General elections are scheduled to be held in Ethiopia on June 1, 2026. To count for resolution, the individual must be officially appointed and sworn in as Prime Minister of Ethiopia. Any interim or caretaker Prime Minister will not count toward the resolution of this market. If no such Prime Minister takes office by December 31, 2028, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Government of Ethiopia; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

AI analysis

The prediction market for Demeke Mekonnen to be the next Prime Minister of Ethiopia indicates a low probability of occurrence, with a current price of 0.01 (1%). This suggests that the majority of participants do not expect him to assume the office of Prime Minister following the 2026 General elections. The current price is informed by known facts such as Mekonnen's current role and political affiliations. A change in his political standing or a significant shift in public opinion could potentially increase the YES price, while a strong alternative candidate emerging or Mekonnen's continued lack of support from key stakeholders could lead to a decrease in the price. The market will resolve on June 1, 2026, following the official appointment and swearing-in of the next Prime Minister of Ethiopia.
