Reversal Screener Guide
What Does This Screener Find?
This screener identifies stocks showing signs of potential price reversals by combining multiple signal groups. A high composite score means multiple independent indicators are clustering toward the same reversal thesis.
Signal Groups
- Momentum Exhaustion (30%): RSI, Stochastic %K, Williams %R, and MACD histogram. Extreme readings in these oscillators suggest momentum is running out.
- Mean-Reversion (25%): Bollinger Band position, price deviation from SMA50/SMA200, and BB width (squeeze detection). Price at extremes with tight bands = high reversal probability.
- Volatility Context (20%): IV Rank, straddle % of price, and IV premium. Elevated IV means the options market is pricing in movement — reversals in high-IV environments are more tradeable.
- Sentiment (15%): Put/call volume and OI ratios. Extreme positioning (crowded trades) often precedes reversals as the crowd gets squeezed.
- Trend Context (10%): Price position relative to SMA50/200 and beta. Counter-trend reversals (price below both SMAs for bullish) are higher conviction.
How to Use
- Filter by Direction to focus on bullish or bearish setups
- Higher scores = more signals aligning. Scores above 60 are strong setups
- Check the Signals column for the specific indicators driving the score
- Click a symbol to see full quote details including technical charts
- Watch for earnings proximity — reversals near earnings carry additional event risk
