ETF Fund Flows

Money moving into and out of ETFs, from the creations and redemptions each fund reports to the SEC for every month. A complete record back to 2019, published with a lag: funds file on their own fiscal quarters about 60 days in arrears, so recent months fill in as filings arrive.

Lighter bars are the newest months, which fewer than 90% of funds have reported so far. Funds organised as unit investment trusts or commodity trusts do not file these reports and are not included; nor are funds whose filing combines an ETF with other share classes.

About this data

Each registered fund reports, for every month, the value of shares it sold and redeemed. For an ETF those are creations and redemptions by authorized participants, which is what "fund flows" means. Net flow here is sales minus redemptions.

What it is not: a daily tape. Filings cover three months at a time and become public about 60 days after the quarter ends, so the newest complete month is usually four to five months back. For one fund's full history open its page and choose Flows.

Fund data comes from each fund's SEC filings and issuer disclosures and is shown with the date it is as of. SEC portfolio and flow filings become public about 60 days after the period they cover. Nothing here is investment advice; see Terms.
